Playstation – The Studio

The Studio on PlayStation®Store showcases the best in cutting edge art, design, illustration and photography.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE), in association with Studio Output, cordially invites you to the opening of a brand new digital art store, The Studio, on PlayStation

®Store. Launched on the 13th April 2011, The Studio will bring the work of some of the most coveted creators of graphic and digital design from across the globe to PlayStation audiences worldwide. Each artist will have original works, fully digitised to create a range of static and dynamic themes downloadable for PlayStation®3 (PS3™) and PSP™ (PlayStation®

Portable).

The Studio is curated and managed by Studio Output, one of the world’s most tuned-in creative design and production companies, and hosted on the free-to-access PlayStation®Network. It offers a platform for cutting edge artists to digitally showcase their work to the world, from photography to typography and illustration to street art.

Twenty selected artists will be the first to share their designs. Celebrated illustrator Anthony Burrill brings two upbeat themes to The Studio; A world of Moving Shapes and Colours and Blocks, while Mr Bingo introduces us to one of his favourite characters in Charlie’s Awfully Big Adventure – a theme based on his sell-out print ‘Charlie does a Kickflip’ from 2010. Fans of English rockers Muse will recognise the work of  Jasper Goodall, notably known for his album cover art for the band. The artist shares his bespoke dynamic theme titled Lake of Sorrows. And Rex Crowle, AKA  rexbox, featuring in The Studio with his Eyelevator works, also showcases his work elsewhere in the PlayStation universe as one of the creative minds behind PS3 game LittleBigPlanet™. Themes are also set to come from iconic design studios Tomato and Tom Hingston.

Dan Moore, Creative Director at Studio Output comments, “With a focus on limited edition and original artwork, the Studio showcases a selection of the most influential and cutting edge artists and designers in line with PlayStation’s audience, allowing the artist to reach their audience in a more personal way.  We’ve worked with each artist and studio to create a series of bespoke digital themes that integrate with the PlayStation interface, adding another element to the work to offer something unique. ”

Nadim Othman, Creative Director at SCEE comments, “The worlds of art and videogames are becoming increasingly linked, and PlayStation provides the ideal platform to make art more accessible for everyone to enjoy.  Creative gaming is something that is at the heart of the PlayStations brand and The Studio has been developed in line with this to offer exclusive and original content our audience is passionate about.”

The Studio is the latest arrival on PlayStation®Network, adding to a stunning scene of film, music and gaming, featuring everything from MUBI – the film service featuring the best in independent and world cinema – to the free music streaming service at VidZone™.  Add fuel to your creative fire and visit The Studio on PlayStation Store this April. Glug – Subism

As part of the Subism team I helped organise the Subism Glug Networking events in Nottingham & London.

Glug #8 at Brownes Nottingham – Subism hosted a gallery & live drawing.

“Subism have put on a great party at the last two Glug events in Nottingham and London. As well as being pretty damn good at their art, they are also top people. They bring together loads of different styles of graffiti and illustration and will take over any canvas, wall or anything you put in front of them and come up with the goods. Definitely highly recommended!”
Gemma Ballinger, Development Manager @ Studio Output Nottingham

Glug #11 at The Queen of Hoxton – Subism arranged illustrators to work on the stairwell walls and upstairs on the roof.

“You don’t really know what to expect when you ask a bunch of illustrators to paint your walls. Playing safe has never really been the point of our events but the Subism team turned up and just got on with it. As you can see from the pictures everyone brought something different in terms of creative and whilst wildy different in style the work was all absolutely quality.”
